Our History

Ashfield Pirates FC was founded in 2014, with our first season kicking off in 2015, driven by a simple but powerful idea: to create a football club where kids could play in a safe, fun and supportive environment, free from the pressures that had crept into junior football elsewhere.

The club was established by local parents who wanted something better for their children, a place where enjoyment, respect and community came before results. From day one, the Pirates focused on inclusivity, player development and strong values, welcoming families from all backgrounds across Ashfield and the Inner West.

What began as a small community club has grown steadily year on year. Today, Ashfield Pirates FC proudly supports over 650 players, with juniors making up the heart of the club. We now field teams across all age groups, including strong women’s programs, development pathways, and grassroots programs like Little Pirates and Minitillies.

Beyond the field, the Pirates are deeply connected to the local community, working closely with schools, council and volunteers to grow participation and remove barriers to sport. More than a decade on, the Pirates remain true to their founding values, building confident players, strong people and a welcoming club that feels like home.
