JEAN KOURIEL
Founder & Club President
Jean Kouriel has been involved in football for over 40 years, with a playing career that included clubs such as Marconi Club, Sydney United, Southern District and Colo Colo. He also represented Australia in Futsal and NSW Schoolboys in football, experiences that shaped his strong understanding of the game and its development pathways.
In 2015, Jean co-founded Ashfield Pirates FC alongside the late Adam Spencer-Carr, driven by a shared vision to create a club that prioritised enjoyment, safety, development and community. With the support of dedicated volunteers, the Pirates have since grown into one of the fastest-growing football clubs in the Inner West.
Jean introduced the Pirates Training Program in 2020, focusing on structured development delivered by qualified coaches. He holds a C Licence and completed his B Licence qualification in November 2025, reinforcing the club’s commitment to quality coaching. In 2025, the Pirates proudly had two B-Licensed coaches, two C-Licensed coaches and seven qualified youth coaches supporting programs from Little Pirates (U4–U11) through to senior football.
Jean’s leadership continues to shape the Pirates’ culture, ensuring the club remains community-focused while building strong pathways for future generations of players.


REGIS SHAMON
Club Secretary
Regis Shamon joined the Ashfield Pirates FC Executive Committee in 2024, bringing with him a strong coaching background and valuable playing experience at a high level.
Regis has been involved in coaching for over five years, including coaching the Pirates Under 16/1 Development team in 2025, where he played an important role in the development of emerging players. He achieved his C Licence coaching certificate in 2023 and completed his B Licence qualification in November 2025, demonstrating his commitment to ongoing coaching education.
In addition to his coaching credentials, Regis has played NPL football with SD Raiders and competed in Pirates All Age Men’s Division One, giving him a well-rounded understanding of both elite and community football environments.
We are proud to announce that in 2026, Regis will take on the role of Technical Director of Mounties JDL, a significant achievement that reflects his leadership, football knowledge and ability to develop young players.
SVETLANA JOVANOVIC
Club Treasurer
Svetlana first became involved with Ashfield Pirates FC through her son’s participation in the Under 8s mixed team and has since become an integral part of the club’s leadership, serving as Club Treasurer for the past six years.
In her role, Svetlana has played a key part in the club’s growth and financial stability, supporting the Pirates as they continue to expand across junior, youth and senior football. Her commitment and attention to detail have been invaluable in ensuring the club remains well-governed and sustainable.
In 2023, Svetlana was instrumental in establishing the club’s first All Age Women’s team, a major milestone in the Pirates’ history. She continued her involvement on the field in 2024, playing with the women’s team as they reached the semi-finals in their debut seasons.
Svetlana’s dedication both on and off the field reflects the spirit of the Pirates and the importance of volunteers in building a strong, inclusive community club.


ANDRE KOURIEL
Club MPIO
Andre Kouriel is a current player with the Ashfield Pirates Under 21s and an integral part of the club both on and off the field. He has also played NPL football with Inner West Hawks and Canterbury Bankstown, bringing valuable high-level playing experience back into the Pirates community.
Andre is the Head Coach of the Little Pirates Training Program and coached the Under 8s team in 2024, playing a key role in introducing young players to football in a positive, safe and supportive environment. He achieved his C Licence coaching qualification in 2025, along with his Foundation of Football accreditation.
In 2024, Andre joined the Executive Committee as the club’s Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO). In this role, he supports players, parents and volunteers, ensuring the club remains an inclusive and respectful environment.
Andre is one of the club’s most valued members and works tirelessly across all areas of the Pirates, living the values the club was built on.
